Located north of downtown, where the Mill Race and Kalamazoo rivers meet. Fannie Pell Park is a one acre landscaped park located at the northern end of the Central Business District on Main Street. The park contains a gazebo (frequently used for weddings), picnic tables, canoe and kayak landing, and City Hall entrance.
There is a floating dock on the Mill Race which provides access upstream only. There is also a floating dock on the main stem of the Kalamazoo River. A strong paddler can go upstream on the Mill Race and then take a short portage by the dam which creates the Mill Race to access the main stem of the Kalamazoo River and thus do a circuit back to Fanny Pell Park.
The indoor toilets are seasonably available during daylight hours.
Parking Lot parking is available.
Public restrooms are available (Flush Toilet).
Carry-In boat access.
Length of access is less than 50 yards.
Immediately downstream from the floating dock on the Mill Race is a small dam with a narrow opening, steep shute and dangerous drop.
The gate allowing access from the parking lot to the floating dock on the Mill Race may be locked in the winter.
The sign for this site is along the road (visible from road).
A nearby local outfitter provides just rentals including transport of boat.
