40th Street Bridge
This bridge crossing is the take-out for the 3 mile segment beginning upstream at CR 665. Once pathway clearing work wis completed for the season this segment is considered Intermediate because of the need to be able to switch from side to side to maneuver through some of the narrow pathways cut through the log jams. This section is difficult at extremely low water because of a few exposed logs, sand bars and mud flats. A short portage may be required.
Although it is possible to paddle downstream from 40th St., no clearing work has been done and none is contemplated at this time. Depending on water conditions, it could easily take all day to get to the next bridge crossing at 44th Ave which is 3.5 miles downstream.
It is best to park on the east side of the road immediately north of the 40th Street bridge. There is room for a couple cars to pull just off the pavement and there is also room on the west side of the road. The access to the water is on the NE side of the bridge.
On Road Shoulder parking is available.
Carry-In boat access.
Length of access is less than 50 yards.
Shoulder parking is tight and traffic travels fast on 40th Street so be careful loading/unloading boats. There is a gravel bank which makes actual launching on the NE side of bridge very easy.
