County Line Road bridge crossing

This bridge crossing access (also called 70th Street) is the take-out for trips starting 6.5 miles upstream in Hartford or 3.5 miles upstream at 67 1/2 Street. It is the put-in site for trips going 2.0 miles downstream to Paw Paw River Campground on M-140 or 5 miles to Watervliet. The canoe livery at the campground normally maintains this segment of the water trail from County Line to the campground. Once pathway clearing is done for the season, this stretch has no portages and is considered Beginner level at normal water levels. However, at extremely low summer water levels, there may be exposed logs to slide over or haul boats around. Occasionally, large numbers of tubers from the campground use this section on summer weekends.

To find this access site, take Red Arrow Highway west from Hartford or east from Watervliet and turn north on County Line Road (70th Street). Park on the side of the road on southwest side of bridge and follow path down to river. When coming down the river, the access site is on River Left immediately after the bridge.
