This June, with Ann Arbor and the beautiful Huron River as its backdrop, the National Park Service held its very first Water Trails Forum for National Water Trails. The three-day event provided an opportunity for National Water Trail managers and partners to discuss common challenges, share successes, learn cutting-edge best practices and build a support network.
Over 70 people attended the Forum, including representatives from over ten different National Water Trails throughout the county. Portions of the Forum featured tours of the two National Water Trails in Michigan, the Huron River Water Trail in Ann Arbor and the Island Loop Water Trail in Port Huron. Forum participants also had an opportunity to learn more about features of the Detroit Heritage River Water Trail.
